BlockBeats News, August 23rd. Cryptocurrency analyst Ali Charts stated in a post that in the end stages of two historical Bitcoin bear market cycles, a specific pattern emerged: a strong weekly reversal candle, unexpectedly to most market participants, served as a trend reversal signal.
Such price action typically starts with a short squeeze. As the price rises, bearish traders keep adding to their short positions. As the uptrend accelerates, these short positions are forced to cover, further fueling the price increase.
Data shows that in 2019, Bitcoin experienced a single-week surge of 31.98%, a move that helped confirm the end of the bear market and the beginning of a new uptrend. In January 2023, against the backdrop of extreme market pessimism following the FTX crash, Bitcoin saw a single-week increase of 24.90%, reversing a significant bearish sentiment.
A similar price action may be unfolding in the current market. Previously, many investors expected Bitcoin to bottom out in October based on the four-year cycle theory. However, Bitcoin has risen from $62,700 to $79,500, marking a weekly gain of 26.81%.
It is believed that if history repeats itself, this strong weekly reversal could serve as an early signal of Bitcoin entering a new bull cycle.
