Monad plans to reduce the consensus block time to 300 milliseconds to accelerate block confirmation speed.
  • GAS0%
  • MON0%

BlockBeats News, June 6, the Monad development team Category Labs released the MIP-12 proposal, suggesting to shorten the network consensus vote pace from the current 400 milliseconds to 300 milliseconds to accelerate block confirmation speed and consensus efficiency.

According to the proposal, the transaction limit will be lowered from 5000 to 3750 transactions, the block proposal Gas limit will be reduced from 200 million to 150 million, and the proposal byte limit will decrease from 2 million bytes to 1.5 million bytes. Furthermore, to adapt to a more frequent block generation pace, the block reward will be decreased from 25 MON per block to 18 MON.

Category Labs stated that this adjustment will not affect the execution client, but due to involving consensus layer parameter changes, it will need to be implemented through a hard fork. The proposal stated that a faster voting pace will help accelerate the formation of a quorum, thus achieving a faster block generation speed. MIP-12 was released on June 1 and is currently in the Draft status.
