CoinEx News: Bitcoin traded near $74,546 on CoinEx on August 21, up 7.8% in 24 hours. The bullish camp is getting louder: Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong says the market may be on the eve of its next bull run; CryptoQuant founder Ki Young Ju says spot and perpetual demand have turned positive together for the first time since Bitcoin’s October 2025 peak, although he wants that demand to persist for a month; F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun says the bear market has ended. Bulls also cite returning ETF inflows, Bitcoin’s move above its 200-day average and a possible golden cross.
The cautious camp, led by longtime Bitcoin critic and gold advocate Peter Schiff, sees a different story. Schiff called Bitcoin’s move above $72,000 “a fakeout, not a breakout,” arguing that the Treasury’s surprise expansion of long-bond buybacks provided an unexpected liquidity boost and that short covering, rather than proven new spot demand, amplified the rally. “Sell Bitcoin, buy gold,” he said. His view puts the focus on what happens after forced buying fades: sustained spot and ETF demand above $70,000 would weaken the fakeout thesis, while a loss of that zone would strengthen the case that this was another bear-market rally.
