“The negotiating team has put us in a very favorable position, but we still need to take a look, we have not yet reached the finish line, but we are very close,” the U.S. official said. The official stated that the agreed terms are achieving Trump's core objectives. The terms of the memorandum of understanding include reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports. Iran's highly enriched uranium will also be destroyed on-site and then shipped out of the country.

“Iran will not get anything for signing the memorandum of understanding or for the negotiations themselves,” the official said. “They will get economic rewards for fulfilling the obligations stipulated in the agreement.
