BlockBeats News, June 18th, Aztec Labs announced that they are investigating a potential vulnerability incident affecting the 2021-launched and now-deprecated Aztec payment product. Approximately $2 million has been drained from an immutable smart contract.

Aztec Labs stated that the deprecated product was an immutable Stage 2 Rollup and had been decommissioned in 2022. Aztec Labs does not hold the admin keys to this system and cannot control it, thus unable to pause or upgrade the system.

Aztec Labs also mentioned that this incident is separate from the deprecated Aztec Connect product vulnerability incident that occurred on June 14, 2026. The team will provide further updates in due course.
