BlockBeats News, July 28th, According to official sources, Base Build has announced the launch of Base Verify Onchain to address the sybil attack issue in the blockchain ecosystem. The feature has been deployed on the Base Sepolia testnet, allowing developers to implement a "one real user, one claim" rule in smart contracts. Base Build stated that the traditional airdrop mechanism is vulnerable to manipulation by bulk wallets, where a large amount of rewards is often captured by professional airdrop farmers, leaving genuine users involved in product development with limited benefits.
Base Verify Onchain generates a stable identity hash for each real user, enabling project teams to identify multiple wallets controlled by the same user without obtaining the user's name, account information, or other private data. Users can complete verification through existing accounts on platforms such as Coinbase, Instagram, X, and TikTok. Subsequently, the system returns the verified identity credential to the smart contract, which autonomously enforces rules such as claim restrictions, voting limits, or balance controls. Currently, Base Verify has been used over 300,000 times and has been adopted by collaborative projects including Base App, Cody, Scratch, and Bracket.
Base Build stated that Verify Onchain will offer decentralized applications a more equitable airdrop, token distribution, governance voting, and user incentive mechanisms. Developers can leverage this technology to restrict the claiming frequency of a single real user, allocate rewards based on verified identities, or translate real-world signals into on-chain reputation, thereby mitigating the impact of bots and multi-wallet control on the fairness of Web3 applications.
