BlockBeats News, May 7th, four sources familiar with the matter said that the CIA's confidential analysis this week believed that Iran could maintain its operations under a U.S. naval blockade for three to four months before facing more severe economic challenges. Despite weeks of heavy bombardment by the U.S., Iran still retains a significant ballistic missile capability. A U.S. official said that Iran currently retains about 75% of its pre-war mobile launcher inventory and around 70% of its missile stockpile. Evidence indicates that the Iranian regime has been able to restore and reactivate almost all underground storage facilities, repair some damaged missiles, and even assemble some new missiles that were nearing completion at the outbreak of the war.

Another U.S. official said that he believes Iran's ability to withstand prolonged economic hardship may be even stronger than the CIA's assessment. "The Iranian leadership has become more radical, steadfast, and increasingly confident in their ability to outlast American political will, while suppressing any internal resistance through domestic repression, similar to situations where regimes have endured for years under long sanctions and purely aerial bombing campaigns." Iran is storing some of its oil on tankers that would have otherwise been idle due to the blockade, while reducing oil field production to ensure well operations continue. If Iran is able to smuggle oil overland, then the CIA may have underestimated Iran's economic resilience.
