BlockBeats News, June 23, the Ethereum Foundation announced that it is undergoing a reorganization and plans to lay off approximately 20% of its staff.

This adjustment continues the "Lean Ethereum" strategic transformation and the 2026 development direction, repositioning the Ethereum Foundation as a leaner protocol governance and maintainer, rather than a primary core developer.

This change follows the 2025 PR&D (Research and Development) reorganization (reducing staff from over 110 people to below 100), a previous layoff of about 19 people, and the subsequent departure of several senior researchers.
