BlockBeats News, June 26th, Meta has onboarded three co-founders and core team members of the AI security and governance startup Virtue AI. As part of the arrangement, Virtue AI co-founder and UC Berkeley professor Dawn Song will join Meta as the VP of AI Research and will be part of the Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), reporting to Head Nat Friedman alongside Virtue AI co-founder Bo Li; another co-founder, Sanmi Koyejo, will join Meta FAIR Lab. Virtue AI, founded in 2024, focuses on enterprise-grade AI security infrastructure, with products including automated red team testing, runtime defenses, and AI agent security governance tools. Meta aims to leverage the team's technical capabilities to further enhance the security capabilities of its autonomous software agents in areas such as data leak prevention and malicious command detection.
Notably, Dawn Song's previous privacy computing network Oasis Labs has received investments from notable institutions such as a16z Crypto, Accel, Polychain, and Pantera, while Virtue AI has also received early support from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Walden Catalyst Ventures, and Prosperity7 Ventures.
