BlockBeats News, June 13. AI programming agent startup Niteshift announced the completion of a $7 million seed round of financing, led by Greylock partner Jerry Chen. Although the financing amount is not prominent in the current AI industry, the company attracted participation from renowned investors such as LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, Datadog co-founders Olivier Pomel and Alexis Lê-Quôc, Braintrust founder Ankur Goyal, and Reflection AI co-founder Misha Laskin. This round of financing will be used to expand product development and market promotion.

Niteshift was founded by former Datadog early engineer Sajid Mehmood and Conor Branagan, both of whom were involved in driving Datadog from a startup to a software giant worth tens of billions of dollars. The company believes that as foundational model providers like OpenAI and Anthropic continue to expand into vertical software markets, more and more enterprises will be concerned about entrusting their core code assets entirely to these potential competitors. Mehmood likened this trend to early e-commerce companies' concerns about Amazon Web Services and believes that the AI industry is going through a "SaaSpocalypse" phase similar to the "Retail Apocalypse."

Niteshift is not trying to replace mainstream AI programming tools like Claude Code or Codex but aims to become an independent infrastructure layer connecting enterprises and model suppliers. The company is betting that in the future, enterprises will prefer to separate code-generated models from code review, testing, permission management, and operational processes to reduce reliance on a single model provider. Niteshift believes that as AI software development gradually becomes a core part of enterprise productivity, neutral platforms that do not directly compete with customer businesses will see increasing market demand.
