BlockBeats News, July 18th - In response to the recent community controversy surrounding Base, crypto KOL Rune posted on Platform X questioning Cobie's takeover of Base App. Rune raised concerns that Cobie's goal in taking over Base App was to drive on-chain transactions, but the current management of Base has been consistently eroding user trust. This has led users to believe that "trusting anything related to Base for over 24 hours is a mistake," making it challenging to attract new users in such a culture.

In response, Cobie stated that a few days ago, he took over the Base App and Coinbase trading product-related work but is not in charge of the Base chain. He acknowledged that Coinbase has long had a disconnect with users, especially native crypto users. Both Base and Coinbase have, due to some avoidable mistakes, overdrafted a significant amount of user trust. Cobie expressed his hope to listen more to on-chain user feedback in the future and build a product that users are truly willing to use.

Subsequently, Rune responded again, stating that Coinbase's biggest issue is not just alienating users but long-term neglect and even harm to its own users. He mentioned that currently, over 10,000 Base users have suffered approximately 99% asset loss due to trusting the Base/Coinbase management, and the Base management's attitude towards the events has further fueled community dissatisfaction.

Rune believes that Base has the potential to become the best Layer 2 infrastructure in the crypto industry but what is truly lacking is a leadership team willing to take responsibility for users. He expressed hope that Cobie could change this situation but emphasized that the problem with Base is no longer just damaged trust; the community's trust has almost entirely evaporated.
