  • BTC0%

BlockBeats News, May 22nd, Bitcoin mining firm MARA Holdings has allocated approximately $4.3 million for CEO Fred Thiel's personal security expenses in the 2025 fiscal year, including $430.78 thousand for vehicle bulletproof modification, as well as expenses for bodyguards and residential security facilities. According to documents filed with the U.S. SEC, MARA also provided about $3.9 million in security expenditure for CFO Salman Khan, including $438.38 thousand for vehicle bulletproofing.

Reports indicate that as incidents of "wrench attacks" targeting cryptocurrency industry executives and investors increase, crypto companies are significantly increasing investments in executive physical security. The so-called "wrench attack" usually refers to coercing victims to hand over their private keys or account permissions through kidnapping, violence, or threats. Data shows that in 2025, there were 72 confirmed cryptocurrency-related entity extortion incidents globally, a 75% year-on-year increase. Among them, France had 19 incidents, the highest in the world.
