BlockBeats News, July 2nd, Iran and the United States concluded a round of indirect talks on Wednesday, with no sign of progress towards a lasting peace but instead focusing on those issues they claimed to have resolved when they announced a temporary agreement two weeks ago.

According to Reuters, sources familiar with the discussions said that the two countries' negotiators spent two days in Doha discussing maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and the unfreezing of Iranian funds, which are two key issues under the preliminary agreement.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry stated that the next meeting will take place after the funeral of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, scheduled for July 9th.

In Washington, U.S. President Trump said that progress was being made in limiting the possibility of Iran's nuclear program. "Iran's denuclearization is going smoothly," he told reporters, "they had a very good meeting, and we are looking forward to it."

However, sources said that the nuclear program issue was not raised in the talks, which were essentially technical in nature.
