BlockBeats News, June 22nd - Global payment company MoneyGram announced its official endorsement as a Solana network validator and joined the Solana Developer Platform, marking its formal entry into the Solana ecosystem. This also makes MoneyGram the third blockchain network to operate an official validation node following Tempo and Midnight Network.

MoneyGram CEO Anthony Soohoo stated that as the importance of blockchain infrastructure in the global payment sector continues to grow, institutions relying on these networks should also participate in their security and long-term development. As a validator node, MoneyGram can support the operation of the Solana network through actions such as staking SOL and processing transaction blocks.

Furthermore, by joining the Solana Developer Platform, MoneyGram will gain access to the development tools needed to build financial products and collaborate with institutions including Mastercard to develop Solana-based applications.

In recent years, MoneyGram has been advancing its blockchain payment strategy. Its stablecoin, MGUSD, has been launched in collaboration with institutions such as Bridge, Crossmint, Fireblocks, M0, and Stellar, and expanded stablecoin fiat on/off-ramp services through a partnership with Kraken. The company stated that it always views blockchain as a tool to enhance global fund flow efficiency and accessibility, rather than an end goal.
