BlockBeats News, April 21, Ripple released the XRPL Quantum-secure Roadmap, aiming to equip the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to withstand future quantum threats and planning to achieve full readiness by 2028.
This roadmap is divided into four stages: The first stage is Post-Quantum Recovery (Q-Day Preparedness), focusing on establishing contingency plans to ensure fund security during the decryption of classical cryptographic standards; the second stage, scheduled for the first half of 2026, will conduct proactive planning and experiments to assess quantum risks and collaborate with Project Eleven to test NIST-recommended algorithms; the third stage is expected to take place in the second half of 2026, integrating post-quantum signature schemes into Devnet and exploring privacy primitives; and the fourth stage aims for 2028, proposing new amendments to the ecosystem to achieve a full transition to native post-quantum cryptography.
Ripple stated that XRPL's existing key rotation and seed-derived key generation capabilities have laid the foundation for this migration, giving it a protocol advantage over networks like Ethereum in addressing quantum threats.
