BlockBeats News, July 28th, NVIDIA announced a multi-year strategic cooperation with Safe Superintelligence (SSI), founded by OpenAI co-founder and former Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever, and invested billions of dollars to intensify next-generation artificial intelligence research.

According to sources familiar with the matter, SSI has received billions of dollars in financing from NVIDIA to build a large-scale computing infrastructure to support its new AI research direction. The specific investment amount was not disclosed by either party.

As part of the collaboration, SSI will adopt NVIDIA's latest Vera Rubin AI computing platform, and the available computing power is expected to increase by about 10 times in the next 12 months.

SSI stated that the company has achieved "research breakthroughs worthy of scale-up," and acquiring large-scale NVIDIA computing resources will help the team further advance related research.

Established in 2024, SSI was founded by Ilya Sutskever with the goal of developing "Safe Superintelligence." The company is currently maintaining a high level of confidentiality, without releasing any products or publicly sharing research results. However, leveraging Sutskever's influence in the AI field, it raised approximately $20 billion in funding last year, with a valuation of around $32 billion.

This collaboration is also the latest case of NVIDIA's continued partnerships with AI model companies. Previously, NVIDIA has invested in OpenAI and Thinking Machines Lab founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati. Meanwhile, rival AMD announced last week an investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic.

Sutskever is one of the key figures in modern AI development, having been involved in driving the development of the "Scaling Law" for large-scale language models and the technological ecosystem behind ChatGPT. However, in recent years, he has begun to question whether merely scaling up models is still the sole direction for AI breakthroughs and has been exploring new AI research paths.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that Sutskever has propelled significant breakthroughs in modern AI foundational technologies, and the company looks forward to SSI making new AI advancements with the support of the Vera Rubin platform.
