BlockBeats News, June 18th, the Algorand Foundation has announced a roadmap to make its blockchain quantum-resistant by the end of next year. The roadmap outlines a series of upgrades starting in 2026, including the introduction of post-quantum accounts, multi-signature wallets, and staking support. Subsequent phases will focus on more foundational components of the network.

The Foundation stated that its roadmap builds upon work initiated in 2022 and expands these efforts to other parts of the protocol, aiming to achieve Algorand's envisioned quantum resilience by the end of 2027. The Foundation expects to reach this milestone before NIST sunsets certain traditional cryptographic standards and is three years ahead of the schedule set by the US National Security Agency for national security systems.
